Introducing the V5 Surfski Generation 2
The most stable surfski in the Epic fleet just got a tune up! If you’re new to performance paddling, the V5 Surfski Generation 2 will allow you to jump on and go in all conditions, from mild to wild. Slightly longer, a touch narrower and lighter than the Gen 1 model, the V5 Gen 2 has an under-hull rudder and no storage hatch, just like our existing V-series surfskis. The excellent stability and hull speed gives beginners and more experienced paddlers alike the confidence to take it downwind, play in the surf zone with ease, and cruise flatwater with comfort and efficiency. The beloved Epic surfski cockpit has been further improved for additional comfort, and aids in proper ergonomic posture, thus enabling the paddler to use a powerful forward stroke. Our signature cutaway front deck design allows a close, efficient catch at the start of every stroke.

Available in two lightweight composite constructions, the V5 Gen 2 is even easier to carry to and from the water and unload from your car roof rack.

The Epic V5 Rotomolded surfski allows beginners to jump on and paddle with confidence and give more experienced paddlers a short, stable surfski to use in big or rough conditions. Sleek lines and Epic’s comfortable surfski cockpit make the V5 perfect to learn downwind paddling and great for playing in the surf zone. 

The V5 roto comes standard with under hull rudder, adjustable foot brace (including pedals that automatically adjust line length), rear storage compartment, bow and stern handles, centre carry handles, water bottle holder and Epic’s patented bailer. An optional stern kick up rudder can be added to the Rotomolded version with no modifications needed to allow the V5 to be paddled in shallow or rocky areas.

Rotomolded kayaks have traditionally been heavy and difficult to handle, both on and off the water.

The Epic V7 breaks that mold and sets a new standard for rotomold performance. It is lightweight, extremely efficient, and easy to handle. The V7 is outfitted with the same high quality fittings as every surfski in the Epic lineup, including our carbon fiber footboard and pedals and the hugely popular Epic designed bailer. In addition, it features an aft storage compartment with a waterproof hatch that puts the V7 in a class of its own. 

The 17’ x 21” V7 adds a whole new dimension. It offers similar stability to the V8 with the increased durability of a polyethylene kayak. Its capability can be further enhanced with the optional kick up rudder (no modification needed). This combination allows the V7 to be paddled in areas where composites cannot.

With a hull design featuring specs of 18’ x 21.25”, the V8 is unique in its class. Fast, yet extremely stable, this is a surfski that most kayakers should be able to hop right onto and paddle off. The deck features all the surfski simplicity of the V10 and V12, the main components being a fully adjustable footbrace and rear deck bungees.

Surfskis are no longer unstable racing craft capable of being paddled only by professional athletes. Most levels of paddler can get onto a V8 DOUBLE and paddle proficiently from the first day.

​Newbies will appreciate the way they can jump on and go without spending their first sessions bracing or capsizing. The V8 Double gives intermediate paddlers the confidence to venture out into more adventurous conditions - Surf’s up! At 19’ x 19”, the V9 was designed by Epic’s founder and chief designer, Greg Barton, to fill a sweet spot between the V8 Pro and V10 Sport. Like the Gen 3 V10, the V9 has been optimized for downwind surfing, with increased rocker, and stability. Flatwater speed is a step up from the V8 Pro due to the slightly narrower beam. The all-new third generation V12 is designed to be the ultimate downwind machine for advanced to elite level paddlers. The updated design has more rocker, a more responsive rudder position, and incorporates the very popular V11 cockpit all with more stability than the V14. The slightly shorter length in the Gen 3 V12 allows the ski to turn on a dime and not miss a beat. 

After testing several prototypes in locations around the world, we feel this is the best surfski for elite, open-water paddling, especially in big downwinds. The ski is designed to surf runs for longer and pop up quicker at the bottom of a run- ensuring more momentum. The V12 is faster than the V10 on flat water and is a good choice for those looking to move up. Highly skilled elite level paddlers with perfect stability skills will find the V14 slightly faster on flat water. But as soon as the wind and waves pick up the new V12 will be their weapon of choice.

It’s been over 10 years since the Epic V14 was released. In that time, it achieved notable wins in elite competitions around the world, including the Molokai Challenge, and more recently became the boat to beat in the Chattajack on the Tennessee River. Designed for the paddler with elite-level stability, the V14 was meant for moderate ocean conditions and has also been considered the fastest surfski on the market in flat water.
 
Now, the Gen 2 V14 reimagines the design for racing in classic big ocean conditions. Epic has built on the downwind success of the Gen 3 V12, while still maintaining the legendary V14 speed. The speed allows elite paddlers to jump up and over to the next wave, while increased rocker provides greater maneuverability surfing the wave. Slightly more stable than the Gen 1 model, and less stable than the V12, the new V14 is quicker than the V12, delivering an all-round exhilarating experience for paddlers with the skills to match it. It is ten centimeters longer than the V12 Gen 3, giving it more boat run in flat-water. In a few big international races late in 2024, where G2 V14 prototypes were the boat of choice for Epic athletes, she came in strong! Our team athletes are thrilled with this design, and we expect more great results in 2025.

The K1T was developed from our largest K1 hull, the Legacy XXL. We then modified our surfski cockpit to combine the bucket length of the V14 with the larger leg length adjustability of the V5 rail system. A paddler who can fit in the V14 will fit in this boat, with the added bonus of shorter paddlers now getting to have their fun too!

The K1T acts essentially like a high volume K1 with all the added benefits of a surfski. Safety is greatly increased over a typical K1, as remounting is possible, and any water can be quickly drained away by the Epic bailer. No more dragging the boat to shore if you capsize or are inundated by a wave! Our standard surfski footboard and pedals will give you the adjustability and steering you are accustomed to. This should provide much better steering control than standard tiller bar setups.

The K1T will be a great choice for advanced paddlers who often paddle choppier flatwater conditions. It will also be a great option for surfski paddlers who like to train for flatwater when they cannot be on the ocean.

The Twist is an all-new paddle series created by Epic to give maximum efficiency for experienced paddlers. The unique shape of the Twist blade provides an aggressive, clean catch, and extremely efficient stroke with a very stable feel in the water. The first paddle introduced in the series, the Mid Twist, grabs the water effectively like a blade with greater surface area – thanks to the enhanced efficiency.

They are made from lightweight aluminum and the durable fabric sling conforms perfectly to the shape of your boat. They fold flat for transporting or storage when not in use. 

Always try to support the weight of your kayak equally (do not place stands at the very ends of the boat). On shorter and wider boats, it may be necessary to move the stands a bit further towards the bow/stern than the skinnier boats. This is acceptable.

The new Epic Boat Sock will help protect your boat while in storage or on the road - it is a great addition to your Epic products. There are several sizes available, and they are fitted to your ski. Note that the fit is not as tight in the back part of the boat, as there is some space in the sock to account for the shape of the skis as well as to accept any length rudder. V7 fits into the V8 cover with a bit of extra material left unused.

Warning: The boat sock is breathable and therefore is not waterproof or completely dustproof. The sock does not provide protection from hard impacts or from dropping your boat.

Perfect leash for races, for a quick-release at the end of the race. Coil leash attaches just below the knee.

The Deluxe Leg Leash is equipped with a quick-release carabiner. This is a valuable feature for paddlers, as you typically do not want to be attached to your boat in larger shore break conditions.

We recommend that you always use a leash! In strong winds, our lightweight boats can blow away from you faster than you can swim. Practice your remounts while wearing your leash(es) so there are no surprises when you are forced to remount.

Please note: these leashes are designed for use in races for the quick release carabiner and are not guaranteed to stay connected under extreme tension, or in extreme conditions. 

There are 3 different colour options, unless specified in notes when you purchase at check out, the product will be selected at random. Colours are; Black, Grey and Aqua. Colours are great as you can easily identify them.
